We have the new Cambridge Audio Azur 651 Integrated Amplifier and the Azur 651 CD Player are in and ready to demo. Adding to the list of great new Cambridge Audio Gear, are the Cambridge Audio Minx speakers, DAC Magic Plus, and the NP30 Network Player! If you have grown to love the great sound and value that Cambridge Audio brings, you owe it to yourself to come and check out their latest offerings!
The 651 has a Class-leading power of 75 Watts per channel remains. Separate transformer taps for left & right channels, twin rectifiers and separate PSUs for dual-mono operation of the left and right power amplifiers. Meanwhile a high grade film type volume pot means the 651A also performs as well at low levels as at higher volumes. Cambridge Audio decided that rather than adopting the more common and simpler approach of including USB connectivity on a CD player, they developed a direct USB audio connection to the 651A amplifier. You can simply plug your Mac or PC directly into the 651A amplifier and with the addition of your chosen speakers, you’ll enjoy a whole world of digital music stored or streamed from your computer. It’s in-house developed USB audio processor extracts audio data directly from your PC hard drive – bypassing its soundcard – and takes care of the critical DA conversion process inside the 651. When Cambridge Audio released the first DAC Magic, it became quite the instant sensation for it’s amazing sound and high value. Since then, the DAC landscape has become increasingly more competitive. To counter this, Cambridge Audio has just unleashed it’s update, the DAC Magic Plus! Adding to an already impressive original release, it now comes with: a reworked USB input that now supports 24-bit transfer for ‘better than CD quality’ playback of digital music files of up to 24/192kH, a dedicated headphone amplifier with headphone control, enchanced Anagram upsampling, a new digital preamp function to connect directly to a power amplifier or powered speakers, and much much more! For that may have missed out on a few desired audio gifts or maybe have a birthday coming up…. we have a few suggestions. We have so much new stuff in this week, it may take a day to post all of the info about it! But we wanted to let you know you should come check us out this weekend! Here’s what is new: Stereotypes Audio is now a Harbeth Speaker dealer again! We have the Harbeth Compact 7SE3s in Cherry on demo. We also have the new compact Focal XS Book powered speakers, that are very cool looking, sound great, and make a wonderful partner to your desktop computer setup, TV, or Squeezebox. We now have a complete line of Pioneer Elite Electronics in, from AV Reveivers to BluRay players featuring with AirPlay (plus we have the amazing new 70″ Elite LED TV). Also the new Music Tap System that’s a very compact cool all in one system (think brands we can’t name). We have the Tivoli Audio Model One in stock in 5 flavors to choose from, just in time for the holidays! As well as a England made Integrated Amp from LFD called the LE mkIV signature. More to come on that! We have the new DAC Magic Plus from Cambridge Audio on demo. We also have received word that Rega has officially announced the Rega RP6 turntable! They should be in either end of the year or beginning of January! We plan to have a red floor model, but expect a whole plethora of colors for the RP6! This is a model that will be somewhere between a P5 (discontinued and gone) and P7… but expect sound near on par with the P7. We expect great things from this new table! Over the last 6 months, we’ve added some really amazing audio gear to our store, and we thought you should know about it! We are now carrying Roksan Audio, with the amazing Roksan Radius 5 Turntable, the Roksan K2 Integrated Amplifier, and the Roksan M2 Integrated Amplifier.

We are also now a Pioneer Elite dealer, carrying the gorgeous new Pioneer Elite 70″ LED TV, on display in our store right now! Soon we will be carrying Nola Speakers, including the Boxers and Contenders, when these come in, they will be a great addition to our line of speakers. (we also have other speaker announcements soon, but mum’s the word for now).

The well reviewed return of a John Curl designed Phono Preamplifier is here and on demo, the great Parasound JC-3 Phono Preamplifier. Focal has released their Bird line of compact 2.1 speaker systems, and we have one on demo right now, showing casing great sound in a small compact work area. Rega has released several new products, the Rega DAC, the Rega Brio R (our favorite new best value compact integrated amplifier), the RP1 turntable and RP3 Turntables.

We have the mated the Brio R to the new PSB Mini Speakers, for one of the best sounding compact value focused systems we’ve heard in a while! From Shunyata Research, we have their Triton and Talos Power Distribution Systems, they really make quite an impact on your music! From Marantz, we have their new AV Pre Tuner AV7005 on the floor, to mate with our Marantz MM7055 5 channel amplifier. Our Marantz 8004 CD/SACD player continues to win praise from all of the major audio publications.

In the Reference systems, we have the Audio Research Reference 5 Preamplifier, playing through either the DS450 Amplifier or VS115 Stereo Tube Amplifier. This is a set up that you HAVE to hear to believe. We are also expecting the Audio Research DSi200 Integrated Amplifier in any day now.

For those seeking a good wireless speaker solution, we can now firmly recommend our Audio Pro LV2 and LV3 speakers from Scandinavia. Powered and with their own internal DAC and a USB dongle to send a signal from anywhere, this is truly the wireless solution we’ve been waiting for. We also have the updated Spendor 3/5 R2 speakers, a wonderful update to a classic!

For those looking for a top of the line Universal BluRay player, we have the new Cambridge Audio Azur 751BD and the both the Oppo BD93 and BD95 in stock. For those wanting a higher level of bass for music and home theater, we have the new line of Velodyne Digital Drive Plus Series of subs.

Rocky Mountain AudioFest: Recap

We had a great time at this year’s Rocky Mountain AudioFest Show. This was our first trip to the show in Denver, and apparently it was one of the biggest ones yet. A great time was had by all, good music, great audio, amazing food, and even our hotel had over 15 amazing microbrews on tap. Does it get any better? We really enjoyed hooking up with several of our favorite distributors and brands.

Our friends at Rega were putting out some good tunes, and we’re showing off their fun and affordable new Rega Mini Fono, with a built in USB connection for basic vinyl ripping. The also were playing our favorite new affordable piece, the Rega Brio-R Integrated Amplifier. Steve Daniels, owner of the Sound Organization was also on hand to show off the latest audio gear.

Naim as also showing off the latest in their Uniti all in one/streaming/Integrated Amplifier, the new SuperUniti. This is their top of the line Uniti product, and sounded amazing! We continue to be impressed with this simple to use, but wonderful sounding Uniti music streaming units. They are on par or surpass the sound of some of their best traditional CD disc players. To top it off, they had an iPad just sitting their that they encouraged everyone to pick up and find whatever favorite track they wanted to demo.

We also heard nice music coming from a room with an Audio Research VSi60 Integrated Tube Amplifier being fed by their ARC CD5 player and transparent, powering some nice Nola speakers.

One of our favorite events their was the Canjam, featuring a HUGE ballroom full of headphones, headphone amps, DACs and headphone accessories. We were so moved and impressed by some of these products, that we may just have to pick up a few new product lines that we heard there. Stay tuned! (get ready for your ears to be spoiled). There were so many new exciting products coming down the pipe from our current vendors to talk about, but we can’t let you know all of the secrets yet. We are even considering a few other new companies to carry…. but you’ll just have to stay tuned.

It’s definitely a good time to be a music and audio fan. Some of the best vinyl and digital playback options we’ve heard in years. Can’t wait for next year!

The new Bird from Focal is here! If you haven’t heard any of the buzz yet on this amazing compact system, prepare to be blown away. The Bird is a concept line of Focal loudspeakers created to satisfy the expectations of music lovers in terms of both innovation and ease of use. Maximum music in the smallest possible size in an affordable package. All with a strong identity. It’s great for the office as a desktop computer set up, allowing for the main unit with sub to sit below the monitor, or as a small room 2.1 system to hang right on the wall with your flat screen TV, a kitchen, bedroom. Anywhere you want an easy set up, but amazing sound. It comes with it’s own built in DAC, integrated amplifier, and subwoofer. There are three speaker pack options: Little Bird, Bird, or Super Bird. The Bird is the bridge between “real” music (tangible disc based), and “virtual” music, on a hard disk or a music player, thanks to integrated wireless audio transmission. Virtual music is easy, you just have to connect the iTransmitter to the Apple music player and it will automatically transmit to the Power Bird in wireless mode: same audio transmission as a CD player, no compression, no loss. Thanks to the free Focal Remote application, your music will follow you from one room to another, everywhere in the house, simply by selecting the area. During the second half of 2011, Focal’s wireless option will be completed by the USB Transmitter to connect to your Mac or PC for audio transmission of your entire sound library.
