Moon by Simaudio 390 Network player/Preamplifier (Archived Featured Product)

Simaudio has been on a roll lately with groundbreaking ‘swiss army-knife’-like products such as the Moon by Simaudio ACE that can do it all, sound amazing, and for a reasonable price. Enter the new Moon by Simaudio 390 Network Player/Preamplifier. This may be the king of their latest overachieving product releases.

The previous 380 DSD DAC was already an amazing DAC, but now they’ve given it additional functionality… a network player/streamer, phono preamplifier, preamplifier, headphone amp, HDMI inputs/outputs for home theater pass through, and the ability to decode SACDs and other discs via it’s HDMI input… the only thing missing is an amp. Add a Moon 330A power amplifier, and you won’t be singing the blues, you’ll be enjoying the blues!  While most will just use this as their digital source within an existing two channel stereo system (separate pre and amp), the 390 has the ability to fit into so many different systems in so many different ways, that the possible combinations would take more writing space.

Built Flexible for Nearly Every Need
Do you have an existing home theater but want better two channel sound? Done. Just add it into the mix with your AV receiver and amp, and use it as a home theater bypass for your left and right channels. Have a tube preamplifier but need a great network streaming DAC? Perfect. You get an ‘bonus’ amazing solid state preamp when you’re in the mood. Have a disc player with HDMI that plays SACDs and DVD-Audios? The 390 will make them sound the best you’ve heard them. (believe us, we’re played a lot of test discs over the course of a long weekend with giant smiles on our faces from the listening sessions). It’s also been built for the future, with a modular HDMI card that can be updated/replaced as the HDMI spec continually updates. If there was ever a product that you could say that they made it ‘betterer’… this would be it. And not only better, but they even lowered the price. It Does It All for You…
We’ve been testing it out with WiFi, Bluetooth, wired ethernet, Tidal, SACDs, DVD-Audios, BluRay Audios, NAS drives, old music files the MiND located on our computers… everything just works and sounds incredible. With the updated MiND 2 streaming module, you can now listen to nearly every format out there, including MQA Master files. And if you haven’t compared the MiND to other streaming options (or a direct computer connection), you’re in for a treat! The MiND takes music to eleven! More air, lower noise floor, more detail, we could go on and on. Use the MiND 2 app on your favorite smart device, use the included remote, or add on Roon. It’s willing to be flexible. Do you enjoy vinyl? The included phono stage is better than you’d expect for a built-in phono stage. And how about the Preamplifier? Even we can’t believe just how great it sounds.
