Our nice new pair of Focal Aria 926s are now nicely broken in and ready to audition. Many of you may remember the great larger Aria’s we had in earlier this year, and we’re pretty excited about these as well. All of the great sound you’d expect from Focal with that touch of Flax magic, in the perfect sized package. On top of that, they look gorgeous. Come in today to give them a listen. Chord Electronics new Hugo…. is it a DAC? (in the same vein as their QuteHD Chordette) is it a portable headphone amp? Is it a pre-amp? Yes. And it’s called Hugo. As per usual, Chord has built a cute and well machined unique and small device. Complete with it’s glowing colored lights and an array of connections. But… you could care less about glowing colored lights of course. How does it sound? Well, both the headphone/portable world and HiFi community are taking notice at this little device that could. It will do any and all files up to 24/384kHz and DSD/DXD as a DAC, complete with line-level, single-ended outputs, two USB sockets, optical TOSLINK, Coax, three headphone outputs, and even Bluetooth. Ok, a bit of quick news to start out the weekend. More in detail later. We have the brand new Chord Hugo portable DAC and headphone amplifier in, you can read more about it here. We’ve been getting a lot of interest in the new Shunyata Research Alpha series we have in now. We also have the brand new ‘DC’ version of the Project Debut Carbon (DC) turntable in, as well as the new Spender D1 bookshelf speakers with that great new tweeter (from the floor stander model we have been enjoying, the Spendor D7). And have you hearts of PSB’s PS1 powered Alpha speakers? They make for a great desktop computer set up or compact system. We also have had in the Cambridge Audio DAC Magic XS portable USB DAC for awhile, but… forgot to mention it! And if that wasn’t enough, we’re also have Grado headphones and Focal Spirit One headphones! (come in to find out more). And wait…. there’s ‘one more thing’… The new Rega Elex-R Integrated Amplifier, a blend of the Brio-R with the Elicit-R.

With our recent Focal and Devialet event this month, you’ve probably already guessed that we’re now a full Devialet Systems Dealer. We’re proud to be Portland’s Devialet dealer, and look forward to showing off their beautiful looking and sounding systems! So brand spankin’ new, there’s very little information about it even up at JL Audio’s own site, we now have it and are getting it ready for the floor. This new product will provide a much needed tool in your arsenal to seamlessly blend your great JL Audio Fathom, Gotham or E-Sub into your main speaker system. Spender has always been a well regarded British loudspeaker company, but with the new Spender D7 speakers, they’ve really hit their stride! Great precision, detail and dynamics, these babies can really sing! All of the great hallmark Spender sound, but the D7s come with a load of excitement as well. This comes partly due to the LPZ tweeter with it’s unique and beautiful Stainless Steel front plate. These tweeters add lots of detail, but still blend well with the whole. The Spender A9, A6, and SP2s have been well reviewed and liked, but the D7s top them all. (more…)

Stereotypes Audio of Portland, Oregon is pleased to announce the arrival of the Focal Utopia III line with the addition of the Scala V2 floorstand speakers! We’ve added these to the Diablo’s we already have on our showroom floor. We’re in the process of breaking in these beautiful giants, and we can’t wait to have you give them a listen! The three-way floor standing loudspeaker Scala V2 is an improvement over the previous well received Scala’s, and are the benefactor of ‘trickle down’ from Focal’s top of the line Grande Utopia and Stella Utopia speakers. The new bass unit provides more power and grip, while retaining the lush mid-range, creating a focused and gorgeous soundstage. The Scala’s feature their Beryllium tweeter, Power Flower midrange W driver , 11″ W woofer, and OPC+ filtering with adjustable bass and treble levels. Made entirely in France with all Focal JM Lab tech and build from the ground up, the beauties weigh 187lb each and stand 49″ tall, and are highly efficient at 92dB, capable of some truly amazing SPLs, while retaining a lush natural musical performance. The only place in Portland to find PSB, is proud to carry the new 100 line of Subwoofers from PSB. They make a great match to the Alpha series, as well as many of our other PSB speakers. Tiny in size, but not in sound, it’s a great choice for the space and budget conscience. Read an early review here.
