Somehow we let this one slip through the web blog cracks…. we have permanently on our showroom floor, the well reviewed Simaudio Moon 600i Integrated Amplifier. We’ve been putting it through the full paces over the past month or so and are completely smitten! For those that loved the Simaudio Moon i-5 and i-7, you’re gonna LOVE this new Moon 600i! Rated conservatively at 125 watts per channel (into 8ohms) in a dual mono design, this thing can really move music! It integrates many of Simaudio’s new technologies and advancements, but you really just need to hear it. And it has the usual gorgeous Simaudio case work. Can you feel the love yet already? Stereotypes Audio of Portland, Oregon has just picked up the Micromega HiFi line from France. We’re still unboxing, breaking them in and putting them through all of the paces, but the early sampling has shown great promise. We had a demo unit that we really liked and are hearing about their great value when it comes to features, power and sound. We plan to have several of their products such as their Pre-Amplifiers, Integrated Amplifiers and Power Amplifiers. Stay tuned for more information as we dig in further. After depleting our stock of ProAc speakers during our amazing Anniversary Sale last month, we now have our usual in stock supply of ProAc Speakers back in stock. We also now have the well regarded D28 floor standers in, and are breaking them in. The D28s are one of our favorite sets of speakers, and we can’t wait to demo them for you! We recently received the new Simaudio 650 DAC/CD transport, and have it starting to break in. This is an amazing combo of top level Simaudio DAC, combined with a CD transport. Show Newport: Focal’s sleek XS Book multimedia speaker system was making big sound, playing music from a laptop (through plain-old iTunes, I think) and connected to Cambridge Audio’s smart DacMagic Plus (Also sold at Stereotypes Audio). We recently got the new Marantz M-CR603 Receiver in, and we’re still finding out new things that it can do. It’s even AirPlay compatible with a system update. Think of it as a compact swiss army knife of audio, streaming and networking audio, and it STILL has a CD drive. How rare are physical disc transports getting these days? It will play CDs, CD-Rs, MP3s and WMAs. It’s also able to network via Ethernet using DLNA. It streams Pandora, Rhapsody and Napster, all while driving up to four speakers. Focal of France has decided to get into the headphone business, and have created an amazing set of headphones called the Spirit One that our own Teri got a chance to audition at last fall’s Rocky Mountain AudioFest. She was impressed enough to add them to our growing collection of headphones. They are in now. They are a closed ear style, with a comfortable fit. You can read a preview of them here. Forget about those cheap Big Box USB turntables for ripping your vinyl…. If you already have a decent turntable, then look no further than the new Rega Fono Mini. It’s a great little phono preamplifier AND has a USB connection with an ADC that can convert your vinyl to computer format at standard 16/44 CD resolution. It’s a quick way to get your old vinyl into your computer and have an outboard phono stage that is a great little performer for the price!
