Stereotypes Audio is proud to welcome the well regarded Nola line of speakers to Portland. We have a pair of Boxers and a pair of Contenders that have just arrived! We’ve un-boxed them and after some break in time, we can’t wait to play them for you! Our first listen is already promising! Stop by and give these speakers and audition! The Boxers are bookshelf speakers that are an amazing value for the sound they put out, and the Contenders are a very reasonably priced floorstander. (reasonable, since they offer a taste of what their more expensive baby flagship speakers offer)

We’re excited to have the Harbeth Speaker line back in at Stereotypes Audio, and we’re very excited to be among some of the first dealers to have a pair of the brand spankin’ new Harbeth Compact 7ES-3s in stock! These are so new, even most reviewers don’t have their hands on them. And from what we’re hearing here (and from the early reviewers), these speakers are really something special. When Cambridge Audio released the first DAC Magic, it became quite the instant sensation for it’s amazing sound and high value. Since then, the DAC landscape has become increasingly more competitive. To counter this, Cambridge Audio has just unleashed it’s update, the DAC Magic Plus! Adding to an already impressive original release, it now comes with: a reworked USB input that now supports 24-bit transfer for ‘better than CD quality’ playback of digital music files of up to 24/192kH, a dedicated headphone amplifier with headphone control, enchanced Anagram upsampling, a new digital preamp function to connect directly to a power amplifier or powered speakers, and much much more! It is available in both silver and black, and their is an optional BT1000 wireless audio receiver to handle wifi streaming as well, coming soon. It’s hard to believe that Focal could come out with another simple solution as good as The Bird 2.1 setup, but they’ve released another compact winner! The Focal XS Book is the ultimate computer 2.0 system, a true mini-monitor equipped with Focal speaker technologies and able to reveal the richness and dynamics of your multimedia audio contents. (wow, that was a mouthful, but that’s the best way to put it!) New Rega RP6! This is news I know many of you have been waiting for, the indirect successor to the great Rega P5 turntable, the newly unveiled RP6 turntable continues the upgrades to each of their next level of turntables. The difference this time, is that this is not just a ‘RP5’… the new turntable is positioned to be somewhere between a P5 and P7, but early listenings have been so favorable, some believe this may be un par with a P7. We will just have to wait and see once we get our red floor model in. We can’t wait to have this great new table in our show room! (more…)

We have so much new stuff in this week, it may take a day to post all of the info about it! But we wanted to let you know you should come check us out this weekend! Here’s what is new: Stereotypes Audio is now a Harbeth Speaker dealer again! We have the Harbeth Compact 7SE3s in Cherry on demo. We also have the new compact Focal XS Book powered speakers, that are very cool looking, sound great, and make a wonderful partner to your desktop computer setup, or TV. We have the new DAC Magic Plus from Cambridge Audio on demo. We also have received word that Rega has officially announced the Rega RP6 turntable! They should be in either end of the year or beginning of January! We plan to have a red floor model, but expect a whole plethora of colors for the RP6! This is a model that will be somewhere between a P5 (discontinued and gone) and P7… but expect sound near on par with the P7. We expect great things from this new table! Come visit us and see all of the wonderful new goodies!!!!

Nola Speakers will soon be carried by Stereotypes Audio in Portland, Oregon, bringing these highly regarded speakers to our showroom floor. We will soon have on demo the bookshelf Nola Boxers, as well as the slim  floor stander Contenders. You can read a couple reviews of the Boxers here and here, and about the Contender here and here. These are consistently at the top of most audio reviews top lists for their categories, and Nola’s high end flagship speakers consistently garner top honors. (whose technologies trickle down to their more affordable speakers). Check back with us soon to find out when these will be in and ready to audition.

We had a great time at this year’s Rocky Mountain AudioFest Show. This was our first trip to the show in Denver, and apparently it was one of the biggest ones yet. A great time was had by all, good music, great audio, amazing food, and even our hotel had over 15 amazing microbrews on tap. Does it get any better? We really enjoyed hooking up with several of our favorite distributors and brands. (more…)

Stereotypes Audio of Portland has the new John Curl Designed Parasound JC-3 Phono Preamplifier. This new phono stage has been getting a lot of great reviews and press lately. In the ‘over $2k’ category doesn’t make it an entry level phono stage, but for the sound it produces, it squarely puts it in the high value range and competes very well against the big budget phono preamplifiers out there. There’s so much to like and talk about with this new Parasound piece, but it would be better if you just read the reviews and then came in to give it a listen! The new Bird from Focal is here! If you haven’t heard any of the buzz yet on this amazing compact system, prepare to be blown away. Stereotypes Audio is the only place in Portland, Oregon that you can get the Cambridge Audio iD100 Digital Dock. This is great for Recording Professionals, Home Studios and Project Studios that want to get the high end direct digital signal out of your iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone. There are so many great apps out there that make these Apple devices indispensable to the modern recording professional. It also can be a great audiophile dock to get the digital signal into a better DAC (since the iPad, iPod and iPhone has a ‘modest’ DAC in them). They have an outboard power supply, a video output, a AES/EBU XLR digital Audio Out, a Toslink digital audio out, a S/PDIF / Co-axial Out, and even a USB socket for easy syncing.
