A self-powered speaker that’s small and sounds great. Vanatoo’s Transparent One compact size and great sound makes it convenient to use as a desktop speaker system or with a wireless setup.  Coupled with its multiple digital inputs and custom passive radiator for extended bass, this is a speaker that simply must be checked out! Two finishes available: black and natural cherry.

We’ve got some pretty cool new gear in right now. And the big word is: SPEAKERS! We have the newer mid-level Fact 8 PMC Speakers in (review here), as well as the return of the amazing mid-level Electra Focal beryllium speakers, the Focal 1038 Be. Both of these are pretty amazing sets of speakers, that will allow you to hear a level of detail you’ve probably never experienced before. And to top that off, we are demoing a pair of Martin Logan Ethos speakers on a trial basis. While you might be able to find some of the ‘entry level’ Martin Logans in town, this is your chance for a limited time to hear a set of some of Martin Logan’s better Electrostatic speakers. And if that weren’t enough, the big DAC buzz in the industry has been about the Micromega MyDAC, and we’re supposed to have our shipment in of them on Tuesday! If you haven’t been in to visit us here at Stereotypes Audio, now’s the time to ‘pay us a visit!’

After depleting our stock of ProAc speakers during our amazing Anniversary Sale last month, we now have our usual in stock supply of ProAc Speakers back in stock. We also now have the well regarded D28 floor standers in, and are breaking them in. The D28s are one of our favorite sets of speakers, and we can’t wait to demo them for you! Show Newport: Focal’s sleek XS Book multimedia speaker system was making big sound, playing music from a laptop (through plain-old iTunes, I think) and connected to Cambridge Audio’s smart DacMagic Plus (Also sold at Stereotypes Audio). As with many things days, we’re seeing more and more price increases. Both Rega and Focal are going to be raising their speaker prices on March 1. If you place your speaker order BEFORE the end of February, we can still honor the current pricing. (this is not an increase for Rega components, just speakers). So get your Rega and Focal Speakers now before the pricing goes up.

Stereotypes Audio is proud to welcome the well regarded Nola line of speakers to Portland. We have a pair of Boxers and a pair of Contenders that have just arrived! We’ve un-boxed them and after some break in time, we can’t wait to play them for you! Our first listen is already promising! Stop by and give these speakers and audition! The Boxers are bookshelf speakers that are an amazing value for the sound they put out, and the Contenders are a very reasonably priced floorstander. (reasonable, since they offer a taste of what their more expensive baby flagship speakers offer)

We’re excited to have the Harbeth Speaker line back in at Stereotypes Audio, and we’re very excited to be among some of the first dealers to have a pair of the brand spankin’ new Harbeth Compact 7ES-3s in stock! These are so new, even most reviewers don’t have their hands on them. And from what we’re hearing here (and from the early reviewers), these speakers are really something special. Harbeth’s are well regarded in the industry of having some of the most natural sound that is just plain true to the music. (more…)

It’s hard to believe that Focal could come out with another simple solution as good as The Bird 2.1 setup, but they’ve released another compact winner! The Focal XS Book is the ultimate computer 2.0 system, a true mini-monitor equipped with Focal speaker technologies and able to reveal the richness and dynamics of your multimedia audio contents. (wow, that was a mouthful, but that’s the best way to put it!) Compact but high-performance, XS Book can also become an active solution around a flat panel, or bring quality sound into a small room once connected to a music player. (more…)

We have so much new stuff in this week, it may take a day to post all of the info about it! But we wanted to let you know you should come check us out this weekend! Here’s what is new: Stereotypes Audio is now a Harbeth Speaker dealer again! We have the Harbeth Compact 7SE3s in Cherry on demo. We also have the new compact Focal XS Book powered speakers, that are very cool looking, sound great, and make a wonderful partner to your desktop computer setup, or TV. We have the new DAC Magic Plus from Cambridge Audio on demo. We also have received word that Rega has officially announced the Rega RP6 turntable! They should be in either end of the year or beginning of January! We plan to have a red floor model, but expect a whole plethora of colors for the RP6! This is a model that will be somewhere between a P5 (discontinued and gone) and P7… but expect sound near on par with the P7. We expect great things from this new table! Come visit us and see all of the wonderful new goodies!!!!

Nola Speakers will soon be carried by Stereotypes Audio in Portland, Oregon, bringing these highly regarded speakers to our showroom floor. We will soon have on demo the bookshelf Nola Boxers, as well as the slim  floor stander Contenders. You can read a couple reviews of the Boxers here and here, and about the Contender here and here. These are consistently at the top of most audio reviews top lists for their categories, and Nola’s high end flagship speakers consistently garner top honors. (whose technologies trickle down to their more affordable speakers). Check back with us soon to find out when these will be in and ready to audition.

The new Bird from Focal is here! If you haven’t heard any of the buzz yet on this amazing compact system, prepare to be blown away. The Bird is a concept line of Focal loudspeakers created to satisfy the expectations of music lovers in terms of both innovation and ease of use. Maximum music in the smallest possible size in an affordable package. All with a strong identity.  It’s great for the office as a desktop computer set up, allowing for the main unit with sub to sit below the monitor, or as a small room 2.1 system to hang right on the wall with your flat screen TV, a kitchen, bedroom. The newer Spendor 3/5 R2 Monitor Speakers are now in, and they sound wonderful. There are several great improvements over the last model, with an all new tweeter and a sealed enclosure. If you love that classic British Monitor sound, these have that in spades, and in a compact size.

The darling of the latest CES show, the PSB Imagine mini speakers just came in! We still need to unbox them and give them an adequate break in, but they are here. Robert Harley from The Absolute Sound awarded it “the Best Sound for the Lowest Price.”… saying, “The Imagine Mini sounded far better than any under $1K-per-pair speaker has any right to. An amazing achievement.” They come in Black, Dark Cherry, or Walnut Finish. You can also special order an optional Gloss White or Gloss Black finish. We can’t wait to hear these in person! Velodyne has reclaimed it’s place as one of the top subwoofer makers in the industry, with it’s new line of Digital Drive Plus Series subs. They set a new industry benchmark in low distortion bass, reproducing the most challenging bass of today’s movies and music, with less than 1/2% distortion. It balances the most deep and powerful bass, with the greatest subtleties of music. Some of those ‘other’ subwoofer companies have made a lot noise in recent years, but Velodyne is firmly answered back with this new line of subs, and Stereotypes Audio is the place in Portland to find them. They come in 10, 12, 15 and even an 18″ ‘1812 Signature Edition’ 3,000 watt beast. It also has some of the best room correction tools in the industry.
