The brand new Rega RP-3 turntables have arrived, and we’ve got some in back…. (read a recent review here) and we now have our cool white demo unit ready to audition. The gorgeous new Simaudio 600i Dual-Mono Integrated Amplifier is now on demo at Stereotypes Audio (Portland, Oregon). This was well reviewed in The Absolute Sound and Soundstage, and we have it in the stunning black/silver combination with it’s companion Simaudio 650D, which is their new CD transport and DAC unit. (it’s bigger sibling has also been heavily praised). This unit is slim, sleek and beautiful. You can find out more on the units here and here. (The older highly awarded Moon i-7 was replaced by the 700i and 600i, with the 600i being the 125watt version). Wow, we have a lot of new gear on demo that you REALLY have to come in and listen to! By the way, Simaudio products have a ‘trade-up’ program. Just ask us about it.

We just got the new Rega Brio-R in, and we’re breaking it in along with the new PSB Imagine Mini speakers. This combo may represent one of the best values for top notch sound for the least price ever! The Brio has gone up slightly in cost, but has gone down in size to the smaller form factor that the Rega DAC has. In fact they make a great pair together. The newer Spendor 3/5 R2 Monitor Speakers are now in, and they sound wonderful. There are several great improvements over the last model, with an all new tweeter and a sealed enclosure. If you love that classic British Monitor sound, these have that in spades, and in a compact size.

The Rega RP1 is in store and ready to demo! Both the stock model and upgraded model with the Performance Pack, which includes the Bias 2 moving magnet cartridge, the upgraded drive belt, and the 100% natural wool turntable mat. You can read more about the Rega RP1 turntable and the Performace Pack upgrade here. This is the best way to get into vinyl if you are new to analog or looking to get back into vinyl. Rega is always a good value for the musical performance you get out of their turntables. (and still all made in England!)

The darling of the latest CES show, the PSB Imagine mini speakers just came in! We still need to unbox them and give them an adequate break in, but they are here. Robert Harley from The Absolute Sound awarded it “the Best Sound for the Lowest Price.”… saying, “The Imagine Mini sounded far better than any under $1K-per-pair speaker has any right to. An amazing achievement.” They come in Black, Dark Cherry, or Walnut Finish. You can also special order an optional Gloss White or Gloss Black finish. We can’t wait to hear these in person! Velodyne has reclaimed it’s place as one of the top subwoofer makers in the industry, with it’s new line of Digital Drive Plus Series subs. They set a new industry benchmark in low distortion bass, reproducing the most challenging bass of today’s movies and music, with less than 1/2% distortion. It balances the most deep and powerful bass, with the greatest subtleties of music. Some of those ‘other’ subwoofer companies have made a lot noise in recent years, but Velodyne is firmly answered back with this new line of subs, and Stereotypes Audio is the place in Portland to find them. They come in 10, 12, 15 and even an 18″ ‘1812 Signature Edition’ 3,000 watt beast. It also has some of the best room correction tools in the industry. A few weeks back we received a pair of PSB Imagine B speakers that we’ve been demoing, and they are small and mighty wonders to behold! I even overheard one new customer proclaim, “Wow, all of that sound is coming out of those speakers?!!” Yes, indeed it’s true. Another truly great value and magic trick from the folks at PSB. We just got the new Simaudio 340i Integrated Amplifier (sold some places as the i3.3) into stock here at our Portland, Oregon store. We’ve been playing the heck out of it and it’s ready for a listen! We’ve got the fully stocked DPX model (DAC, Phono, Balanced inputs) with all of the bells and whistles. You can always order your unit as a base model, and add the extras later if you want.
