We’ve just gotten in the brand new Cambridge Audio Minx Xi. At first glance, this may just look like another network music streamer. But it’s so much more than that. Besides network music streaming, it also boasts a 40w per channel integrated amp, making this a very compact and sophisticated small system when combined with compact bookshelf speakers (like our PSB Imagine Minis). We have several new Naim Audio pieces in that are on our floor and ready for audition. A new streamer (ND5 XS), a new preamplifier (NAC-N XS), and one of Naim’s more affordable separate amplifiers (NAP 200) to compliment these pieces. First up, the new Naim ND5 XS, this is the ‘junior’ model to the well reviewed NDX. While in a slimmer case, this is hardly a ‘stripped down version,’ it can do almost all that it’s big brother does, all with the same sonic prowess. It can be used at the core of your home audio network in both a wired or streaming scenario. It handles all lossy files and high resolution files up to 24/192, as well as being able to stream internet radio stations. You can connect your CD player, USB sticks, and computer, and it can integrate easily with the Naim DAC or any connected Naim CD player, Preamplifier or an optional FM tuner radio module. (more…)

The brand new affordable Micromega MyDAC that’s been getting all of the buzz is here! And we have several in stock. We’re just putting it through the paces, but when we heard it at a recent show, we were blown away considering the affordable price. And many other reviewers all agree. Robert Harley from The Absolute Sound calls it “The (affordable) Miracle” (read his review here). About the size of an Mac Mini, it packs quite a great array of features: SPDIF coaxial, TosLink optical, Asynchronous USB (about to pass up to 24/192). Not only that, it’s not made in China at this price… it’s still made in France. Come in today to audition this mighty mini wonder!

Stereotypes Audio of Portland, Oregon has just picked up the Micromega HiFi line from France. We’re still unboxing, breaking them in and putting them through all of the paces, but the early sampling has shown great promise. We had a demo unit that we really liked and are hearing about their great value when it comes to features, power and sound. We plan to have several of their products such as their Pre-Amplifiers, Integrated Amplifiers and Power Amplifiers. Stay tuned for more information as we dig in further. Show Newport: Focal’s sleek XS Book multimedia speaker system was making big sound, playing music from a laptop (through plain-old iTunes, I think) and connected to Cambridge Audio’s smart DacMagic Plus (Also sold at Stereotypes Audio). We recently got the new Marantz M-CR603 Receiver in, and we’re still finding out new things that it can do. It’s even AirPlay compatible with a system update. Think of it as a compact swiss army knife of audio, streaming and networking audio, and it STILL has a CD drive. How rare are physical disc transports getting these days? It will play CDs, CD-Rs, MP3s and WMAs. It’s also able to network via Ethernet using DLNA. It streams Pandora, Rhapsody and Napster, all while driving up to four speakers. Forget about those cheap Big Box USB turntables for ripping your vinyl…. If you already have a decent turntable, then look no further than the new Rega Fono Mini. It’s a great little phono preamplifier AND has a USB connection with an ADC that can convert your vinyl to computer format at standard 16/44 CD resolution. When Cambridge Audio released the first DAC Magic, it became quite the instant sensation for it’s amazing sound and high value. Since then, the DAC landscape has become increasingly more competitive. To counter this, Cambridge Audio has just unleashed it’s update, the DAC Magic Plus! Adding to an already impressive original release, it now comes with: a reworked USB input that now supports 24-bit transfer for ‘better than CD quality’ playback of digital music files of up to 24/192kH, a dedicated headphone amplifier with headphone control, enchanced Anagram upsampling, a new digital preamp function to connect directly to a power amplifier or powered speakers, and much much more! It’s hard to believe that Focal could come out with another simple solution as good as The Bird 2.1 setup, but they’ve released another compact winner! The Focal XS Book is the ultimate computer 2.0 system, a true mini-monitor equipped with Focal speaker technologies and able to reveal the richness and dynamics of your multimedia audio contents. We have so much new stuff in this week, it may take a day to post all of the info about it! But we wanted to let you know you should come check us out this weekend! Here’s what is new: Stereotypes Audio is now a Harbeth Speaker dealer again! We have the Harbeth Compact 7SE3s in Cherry on demo. We also have the new compact Focal XS Book powered speakers, that are very cool looking, sound great, and make a wonderful partner to your desktop computer setup, or TV. We have the new DAC Magic Plus from Cambridge Audio on demo. We also have received word that Rega has officially announced the Rega RP6 turntable! They should be in either end of the year or beginning of January! We plan to have a red floor model, but expect a whole plethora of colors for the RP6! This is a model that will be somewhere between a P5 (discontinued and gone) and P7… but expect sound near on par with the P7. We expect great things from this new table! Come visit us and see all of the wonderful new goodies!!!!
